General criteria and requirements for translation

For Books:

     1. The book must have not been translated previously.

     2. The number of pages should be between 120 and 500.

     3. Only proposals to translate books that have been recently published (within the last 5 years) will be accepted; however, the center may make exceptions for important or valuable works.

     4. For books that have been printed in multiple editions, the translation must be of the most recent edition.

     5. The books to be translated must not have any content that disrespects the religious, social and political norms of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the Arabic language, whether directly or indirectly.

     6. The book should not include any immoral texts or photos.

     7. If the book is an atlas, photographs must not exceed 30% of book's content.

     8. Equations, mathematical formula and computer programming codes should not exceed 50% of the book.

For Translators:

     1. The main translator should be a member of the university staff.

     2. The main translator must be at least at the rank of assistant professor (or the equivalent for medical faculties).

     3. Translators should be involved in only one translation project at a time.

     4. Translators should prove that they have mastered adequately both the source language and the target language; the center may request additional proof of such mastery.
