Instructions to Translators
How to apply:
The center will announce the plan and platform of applications soon on the center's webpage.
Reviewing translated works:
The review process is governed by a set of criteria approved by the Center for Translation and Arabization at King Abdul-Aziz University, including the following elements:
◦ Translators should follow the instructions given by the KAU printing press regarding the production of the book: Typesetting, proofreading and approving drafts.
◦ The translation should not be a merely literal translation, and should be accurate, with the text free from any linguistic, grammatical and spelling errors.
◦ The translation of the book should be comprehensive, leaving out no element of the text, figures, drawings, tables, footnotes, margins, glossaries of terms or appendices.
◦ Foreign names found in the text being translated should be included in the translation in their original language; with the first instance only, they should be placed within parentheses alongside their Arabized transcription.
◦ Translators should write their own introduction following the translation of the preface of the book, and should be consistent in their use of equivalent terms throughout the whole book.
◦ Translations should include appendices of terms, topics, names and all necessary information.
◦ Translators should prepare lists of terms in two formats: Arabic - (foreign language) and (foreign language) - Arabic.
◦ Translators should create tables of abbreviations — if any — accompanied by their translations.
◦ References should be typed (not reproduced as images) and should remain in their original language.
